South Florida Impact Windows
South Florida in Florida may be a beautiful place to live, but one of the biggest challenges that local residents face is dealing with the possibility of severe storms and damaging hurricanes. While we can’t control the weather, there are upgrades you can make to your home to protect it from the wrath of Mother Nature, and ARMORVUE Window & Door has the superior South Florida impact windows you need for ultimate protection.
We offer storm windows that are more than just an efficient and beautiful investment for your home—they are specifically engineered to handle the toughest weather conditions without failing. Built to withstand Category 5 hurricanes and winds up to 190 mph, our impact windows are crafted from the highest quality materials to prevent costly damage to your home when severe weather strikes.
Conventional Windows Versus Impact Windows
Conventional windows come in two, occasionally three, different types: double pane, single pane, and sometimes even triple pane. What differentiates these windows is the number of layers of glass used. As the names suggest, single pane windows only use one layer, double pane uses two layers, and triple pane uses three. Between layers of glass in double and triple pane windows is argon gas. Argon gas gives an insulating quality to these windows, and therefore helps increase their energy efficiency. However, argon gas can’t protect you from impact or flying debris. While double and triple pane windows offer more protection single pane windows because an object would have to fly through more than one layer of glass, none of these windows give you much protection from impact.
Impact windows, on the other hand, have a laminated layer of either polyvinyl butral (PVB) or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) in between the layers of glass, rather than argon gas. The PVB or EVA helps keep the window intact, even when an object strikes it at tremendous force. Rather than shattering and having shards fly into your home as would happen with conventional windows, impact windows will crack but they will not break.
Strong winds and airborne debris are no match for our hurricane impact windows. No longer will you have to put up and take down plywood to cover your windows, year after year come hurricane season.
High-Quality Impact Windows Built for the Florida Climate
Your windows are the last line of defense against hurricanes and severe storms. Think about it; if something happens to them, your entire house is at risk of getting damaged, or even destroyed. Strong enough wind entering your home through a broken window can cause enough pressure in the house to lift off the roof and push out the structure.
While the strength and durability of our South Florida hurricane windows exceed the industry standards, they also provide several other benefits that include:
- Superior Efficiency: Our impact windows come with high-tech efficiency features that keep cool air in and reduce solar heat—saving you money every month!
- UV Protection: The UV rays in Florida can be damaging, but our windows block 99% of UV light without darkening the view from your home. Protect your furniture, books, rugs, paint, etc. from fading with our impact windows.
- Improved Security: You can feel confident against stormy weather and forced entry with shatter-resistant glass that protects your home from the unexpected.
- Noise Reduction: Whether you’re dealing with traffic sounds or want to sleep through a storm, our windows greatly reduce the level of noise transferred into your home.
